Summer Update

Yes, it has been a long while since I entered the blogging world. I don't have a ton of news to tell - Life was been good to us lately though. All 3 of us have been enjoying life without letting Cystic Fibrosis get in the way too much....

Madeline's been busy having play dates with her friend, Sylvie. She visits every Tuesday at our house.

While the girls play, us moms get some good chatting time. There is nothing better than having a good friend to talk to regularly that shares the same "mommy frustrations" as you do.

Sylvie is 6 months younger than Madeline but they compliment each other very well. Sylvie and her family
were friends with us before we moved. In fact, Lauren (Sylvie's mom) and I shared a common bond- the military.

At one point both of our husbands were on the same navy submarine and deployed many times. We were so lucky that our families moved together near DC and that our children are close in age. It's been a great friendship and I value how understanding they have been about Madeline. It's hard to find friends that genuinely understand the ins and out of CF and germs- taking initiative on their own to wash their hands, call if someone may be sick or just plain being there to listen. It's been such a blessing to have them as friends.

In between play dates and house projects, we have been visiting family this summer. We spent the fourth of July at the Delaware shore with my family. Madeline has turned into a true "beach- goer." She has gotten use to the feel of the sand and loves to make "stick castles".

"stick castles!"
We also enjoyed some fireworks on the beach for the 4th of July....

While having fun this summer we have squeezed in time for CF. Madeline recently finished her
month supply of TOBI (inhaled antibiotic) on the 4th of July. For the next month, we get to enjoy the "extra" half of a hour that we gained from no TOBI! Then of course, we will start the next cycle up in 30 days. It is our hope that once we return to Hopkins on the 22nd that the Pseudo will be gone.

We are optimistic that Madeline is getting rid of Pseudo. She looks healthier, chubbier, and happier than ever. It just seems hard to believe that her lungs are still growing this bug. We have a lot of hope for a clear culture soon.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
